Presiding Judge, Hon. John W. DeGroot Asst. Presiding Judge, Hon. James E. Oakley 2007 Courtroom Assignments Hon. Edward P. Moffat is assigned to hear criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes including law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 213 of the California Rules of Court. Judge Moffat is also the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Department and in charge of the Grand Jury. He is assigned to Department 1. Department
1 Staff:
Hon. Eric C. Wyatt is assigned criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes, including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 213, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 2. Department
2 Staff:
Hon. Jennifer R.S. Detjen is assigned to hear criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 213 of the California Rules of Court. She is assigned to Department 3. Department
3 Staff:
Hon. Mitchell C. Rigby is assigned to hear all matters filed within the Civil Division of the Main Government Center including law and motion, settlement and trial. This is done pursuant to Rule 213, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 4. Department
4 Staff:
Hon. James E. Oakley, Assistant Presiding Judge is assigned to hear all matters filed within the Civil Division of the Main Government Center including law and motion, settlement and trial. This is done pursuant to Rule 213, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 5. Department
5 Staff:
Hon. Thomas L. Bender is assigned all juvenile, education code and adoptions cases for all purposes including law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 213, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 6. Department
6 Staff:
Temporary Judge Hon. Nancy C. Staggs will handle all traffic proceedings under the Vehicle Code and Family Support cases for all purposes including law & motion, settlement and trial under Rule 213, California Rules of Court. She is assigned to Department 7. Department
7 Staff:
Hon. Charles A. Wieland is assigned to all cases filed within the Sierra Division, including all criminal, traffic, civil, family law, probate, and small claims cases for all purposes including case management, law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 213, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Sierra Court, Department 8. Department
8 Staff:
Hon. John W. DeGroot, Presiding Judge is assigned criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes, including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 213, California Rules of Court. Judge DeGroot also hears Drug Court Cases as assigned. He is assigned to Department 9. Department 9 Staff: Ex Parte hearings will be heard in Department 5 , Monday through Friday beginning at 8 AM and Department 8, Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 AM.
