2017 Courtroom Assignments

Main Courthouse 1st Floor - Traffic

Hon. Charles A. Wieland is assigned all traffic cases for all purposes including case management, law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 17.  This assignment is effecitve through January 29, 2017. 

Effective January 30, 2017, Commissioner Brant Bramer will be assigned all traffic cases for all purposes including case management, law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 17.

 



Main Courthouse 2nd Floor - Criminal

Hon. Joseph A. Soldani, Presiding Judge is to hear criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes including law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734 of the California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 21.

 


Hon. Dale J. Blea, Assistant Presiding Judge is assigned criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes, including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. Judge Blea is in charge of the Grand Jury. Judge Blea is the Presiding Judge of the Madera County behavioral Health Court.  He is also assigned the responsibility of co-Presiding Judge of the Madera County Veterans Court.  He is assigned to Department 22.

 


Hon. Ernest J. LiCalsi is assigned to hear criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734 of the California Rules of Court. Judge LiCalsi is the Presiding Judge of the Drug Court.  He is also assigned the responsibility of co-Presiding Judge of the Madera County Veterans Court.  He is assigned to Department 23.

 


Hon. Mitchell C. Rigby is assigned criminal cases filed at the Main Government Center. This is a direct calendar court and once assigned to a case is assigned for all purposes, including law and motion matters, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 29.

 



Main Courthouse 3rd Floor - Juvenile/Family Support

Hon. Thomas L. Bender is assigned all juvenile, education code and adoptions cases for all purposes including law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. Judge Bender is the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Department. He is assigned to Department 36.

Commissioner Ronda Duncan is assigned all Family Support cases for all purposes including law & motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. She is assigned to Department 37.

 


Main Courthouse 4th Floor - Civil / Family Law

Hon. D. Lynn Jones is assigned to hear all family law matters filed within the Civil Division of the Main Government Center including law and motion, settlement and trial. This is done pursuant to Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. She is assigned to Department 40 .

 



Hon. Michael J. Jurkovich is assigned to hear all matters filed within the Civil Division of the Main Government Center including law and motion, settlement and trial. This is done pursuant to Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Department 44.

 


Hon. James E. Oakley is assigned to hear all matters filed within the Civil Division of the Main Government Center including law and motion, settlement and trial. This is done pursuant to Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. Judge Oakley is the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Department. He is assigned to Department 45.

 


Bass Lake Courthouse

Hon. Charles A. Wieland is assigned to all cases filed within the Sierra Division, including all criminal, civil, family law, probate, and small claims cases for all purposes including case management, law and motion, settlement and trial under Rule 3.734, California Rules of Court. He is assigned to Sierra Court, Department 8.

 


Ex Parte hearings will be heard in Department 45 , Monday through Friday beginning at 8 AM and Department 8, Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 AM.
