Madera County , California

On behalf of my fellow judges and the entire staff of the Madera Superior Court, I would like to welcome you to the court’s official website. We hope that it provides the information you need to fully utilize your court system.

The main courthouse of the Madera Superior Court is located at 209 West Yosemite Avenue, Madera, California, in a facility which was constructed approximately one hundred years ago as Lincoln Grammar School. A postcard photograph of Lincoln Grammar School is shown below.

In 1962, Lincoln Grammar School was converted by the County of Madera into the Madera Government Center. As late as 1979, there were still only one superior court judge and three justice court judges for the County of Madera, with branch courts in Chowchilla and Bass Lake. Modernly, the Madera Superior Court operates ten departments, with courtrooms located in the main courthouse, the Madera County Juvenile Detention Facility and the Bass Lake courthouse.

The Madera Superior Court currently is in the land acquisition and planning stages for the construction of a new, modern, multi-story courthouse, to be located at the corner of 6 th Street and H Street in the City of Madera. The court will be moving to the newly completed facility within the next few years.

As the court continues to grow, the judges and the staff of the Madera Superior Court remain committed to serving the public by providing justice that fosters public trust and confidence. We take pride in our service to the community and are fully committed to the mission statement of the Madera Superior Court, which provides as follows:

“The mission of the Madera Superior Court is to ensure equal and fair access for all in the judicial system, and provide public service in an efficient and impartial manner.”
