CARE Act & CARE Court
Effective December 1, 2024, the County of Madera will implement the CARE (Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment) Act.
The CARE Act may help individuals who are living with untreated Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders or other Psychotic Disorders. An overview of the CARE Act and the eligibility criteria can be viewed at the following video link: YouTube CARE Act Overview Video
The Madera County Superior Court serves as a neutral facilitator to ensure that the CARE Act is followed. The following document outlines the CARE Act process and provides helpful definitions:
The forms below provide information for CARE Act Petitioners (person or entity who would like to have CARE Act Proceedings initiated) AND Respondents (person listed on a CARE Act Petition as someone who may qualify under the CARE Act):
